About the Show

This show will be done very differently from any show we have done.

I will be very hands on and have clear ideas on how I want things to go.

Unlike most shows where I just let everyone do their own thing, this one will be more controlled. I want it to fit the vision and imagery of the book. I want it to honor the book as best as it can.

There will be more set designs, so if you're up to help please let me know. I am open to input on acts, but with this one, it will ultimately come down to my decision.

I am only asking for this much trust and control this once. This show will be sometime in January and will also be the celebration of the studio's 4th year.

We are to not talk to anyone outside of cast about the theme of this show. I want it to be a grand surprise to everyone attending.

All cast must have a nice outfit in one or all of these colors: black, white or gray. You are to be in this outfit when you are not on stage.

All costumes will be only in the colors black, white or gray.

Keep in mind we are literally bringing the world of The Night Circus to life.

Those listed as a performer in mind, please note, no one has been given any act at this time. These are just merely ideas I have for who I see fitting the part. This is by no means an obligation, etc.

Opening Act: Sling: SAHALEE

Notes:

Fans turning into birds, have a video of choreo idea.

End with a blackout and when lights come back on a spotlight on only a fan

Sling color: Black

Act 2: Rain Scene- Contortion loop- INGA

Song: Dreams by Nuages

Notes:

solo act

End with Bright Lighting

Dressed in white

Begin with blue lighting or water lights or combo of both. Tarot cards rain down as the piece begins. Halfway through have it black out and lots of fog. Then lights up, like a bright sunny day. Have them hold end pose as lighting goes back to blue.

Act 4: Raven: Black Sling- KYLIE

Song: Requiem Waltz by Emily Jane White

Notes:

Will be the raven in this scene

Red lighting used.

performer in all black.

Act 7: Ice Garden: White Sling : APRIL

Song: Walk by Ludovico Einaudi

Notes:

Everything is white

Lots of sparkles
Must wear a white costume. Rhinestones galore, sparkly makeup, etc.

See a beautiful flower wall- all white flowers covered in silver glitter

Act 10: Bedtime Stories: Sling- SAHALEE, SARAH, ANGEL, INGA, ???

Song: TBD- will be many songs stiched together to bring the story to life.

Notes: 5 acts in one. each performer will have about 2 minutes for their part.

Really use lighting and music to aid in the story telling

Want someone off to the side opening jars and containers as the act progresses with each part of the scene

Performers in mind: Sahalee and... Sarah or Jasmyn, Natalie, etc.

Want multiple performers to portray each bottle being opened. each performer would do a solo for up to 2 min each,

Act 6: Books & Tarot: Lyra: SIERRA

Notes:

Act 17: Dancing Scarf- Lyra- APRIL

Song: Adeline Bowman

Notes: Lyra in spotlight.

Black Leo with a long red scarf. Piece is all about the scarf. Simple lyra choreo, fast and controlled spins making the scarf truly dance.

Piece ends with a fake blackout, then when lights come up, spot is on spinning lyra and red scarf.

Incorporate a ticking clock sound possibly. Very short act.

Act 5: The Clock: Lyra: LISA

Song Preference: Charms by Abel Korzeniowski

Notes: this act signifies the clock that is created for the circus. Would love if it could be a tippy lyra.

Act 3: Contortionist's Tattoo- Floor Act- SCARLETT

Song: Dakini Movement 3 by Adam Crystal
(Open to song suggestions at the moment)

Notes:

Full Contortion Act. No aerial

Dressed in nude colored cat suit with black swirls, symbols, etc. with a red "tattoo"

Act 8: Magic Umbrella: Umbrella- APRIL

Song: Time by Hans Zimmer

Notes:

Begin with umbrellas lit on the stairs only with rain sounds.

In blackout narrating starts while April gets into position. Once song begins, water lights and center spot.

Act 9: Cloud Maze: Moon Lyra- SCARLETT, SYDNEY & SAHALEE

Notes:

See this as a trio

3 performers of close size

will have a circle of clouds around on the floor and on pony wall. Will be controlled with battery operated fairy lights, so it's all lit up and the moon is above the clouds.

Performers can be in white or gray
